As reports of confirmed cases of the coronavirus spread throughout east Texas, many organizations are making the decision to cancel events due to concerns over public health and safety.

On Friday, Mar. 13, Rachel Holsome, released an announcement stating the upcoming Hogg Fest sponsored by the Rusk Chamber of Commerce would be canceled.

"On behalf of the Rusk Chamber of Commerce Hogg Fest committee, it is our deepest regret to announce the 2nd annual Hogg Fest is canceled due to the spread of the coronavirus. It has been a hard decision to make. We just want to keep everyone safe and healthy," the announcement said.

The Hogg Fest will return to Rusk in 2021 with the committee stating the date of the event will be March 20. Planning for Fair on the Square events scheduled for Oct. 10 of this year are still underway.
