Roy Cavozoz seeks bid for Cherokee County Sheriff

February 26, 2020

I am a lifelong resident of Cherokee County, born in Jacksonville to Brenda and Roy Cavazoz, Sr. I have been married to Janet Meador Cavazoz for 28 years and we have two grown daughters and reside in Rusk.

I have over 31 years of law enforcement experience, 24 of which were in a supervisory or administrative position.

I started my Law Enforcement career in 1988 at the Cherokee County jail as a jailer then a dispatcher.

From 1990-2010 I was commissioned with Rusk Police Department and promoted through the ranks to Asst. Chief, serving in that position for 8 years 10 months.

From 2010 to present I have served as a Patrol Deputy, Patrol Sergeant and currently as a Sgt. Investigator with the Rusk County Sheriff’s Office.
My training and experience mean, from day one as your Sheriff, I am prepared to lead the agency and implement policies and actions that will make the Sheriff’s department responsive to the citizens we serve.

I am not seeking this office for the title or the power. The Sheriff should be, and if I am elected, will be a servant of the people he serves. This office is not a position where you learn how to be Sheriff. I have the training, experience and maturity that will allow me to lead the agency.

I humbly ask for your vote on March 3 in the Republican primary

Thank you and God Bless,

Roy Cavazoz Jr.
