Lady Panther soccer opens 2nd round of district play

The Bullard Lady Panthers took on Chapel Hill at home Friday, Feb. 21, to open the second round of district play. Although the score was a close 2-1, Bullard lost to the Lady Bulldogs.

In the second half of play, Chapel Hill scored at the 26-minute mark by playing a switched ball to a forward and outrunning the Bullard defense. The second goal was by Bullard to tie the score. About the 8-minute mark a foul in the box resulted in Jaden Jeter scoring on the penalty kick.

The final goal of the game went to Chapel Hill on a penalty kick after a ball was struck into the hands of a Bullard defender.

Goalkeeper Milley Bryan had five saves during the game.

“It was a really tough game, but the girls played extremely hard,” head coach Tiffany Cooksey commented.

The Lady Panthers hold a 10-6-1 overall record, 4-3 in district.

Bullard was to play at Mabank Tuesday, Feb. 25. They have an open date Friday, Feb. 28, and are slated to travel to Athens Tuesday, March 3.
