Lady Hornets

The Alto LadyJackets defeated the New Summerfield Lady Hornets, 61-26, Tuesday, Jan. 28.

Leading scorer for the Lady Jackets was Mya Tyra with 20 points, recording five assists and two steals as well. Areli Perez sank 12 points and posted eight rebounds, two steals and three blocks.

Makayla Black put 11 points on the board and had eight boards and two steals in the game.

Maquila Jackson earned a double double by sinking 10 points and recording 11 rebounds.

Allona Bruton added four points to the team total.

Mary Woodard and Abbie Teutsch had two points apiece. Woodard also posted four rebounds and three steals.

The Lady Jackets carried a 3-3 district record into their game against Cushing on Friday, when they defeated the Galkats, 41-20. The victory gives Alto a 4-3 district record, 19-13 overall.

The leading scorer was Tyra with 12 points. She also recorded three steals. Black and Jackson dropped in seven points apiece.

Black posted six rebounds, four assists and three steals.

Jackson garnered five rebounds and four assists. Teutsch added five points to the team total and had two boards. Perez put four points on the scoreboard.

The Lady Jackets were to host Gary Tuesday, Feb. 4, and will play Mt. Enterprise Friday, Feb. 7, with tipoff at 6 p.m.

Alto beats New Summerfield

Alto traveled to New Summerfield Tuesday, Jan. 28, where they decimated the Hornets, 71-39.

Skyler Atkins dropped in 20 points to lead team scoring. Jay Pope sank 17 points and Keithen Jenkins, 16.
Kurrin Sai Jackson put up seven points and Jerrion Skinner sank six. Taylor Bowman and Jackson Duplichain each added two points and Clayton Terry, one.

Alto hoped to improve their 2-2 district record going into Friday’s game against Cushing, a feat in which they successes by beating the Bearkats, 64-52.

Tigers fall to Bears

Troup hosted Gladewater Tuesday, Jan. 28, losing to the Bears by a single point deficit, 43-42.

The first half belonged to the Tigers as they created a 13-point lead, 25-12. The Bears mounted a comeback in the third quarter, putting 17 points on the scoreboard compared to Troup’s seven, diminishing the Tiger lead to three points.

The advantage in the final frame also went to Gladewater who outscored Troup in the period, 14-10, to take the lead and the win.

Clayton Vickers led Troup scorers with 13 points, followed by Bracey Cover with 12 points, including two treys.

Grayson Driggs dropped in eight points. Logan Womack sank five points and Blake Wood added four.

The Tigers traveled to Sabine Friday, Jan. 31, where they defeated the Cardinals, 38-31.

Although in no quarter of the game was there more than a two-point difference, Troup held the advantage in each to earn the win.

Cover led all scorers with 15 points, including three treys.

Frazier dropped in a single three-point shot and had a total of nine points in the game.

Clayton Vickers sank eight points.

Driggs added four points and Wood, two.

The win gave Troup a 6-3 district record, 21-9 overall.

The Tigers were to host White Oak on Tuesday, Feb. 4, and will travel to Harmony Friday, Feb. 7.

Both junior varsity and varsity teams will play with tipoffs at 5 and 7:30 p.m.
