Doris Parsons Hassell

Funeral Services for Doris Parsons Hassell, 93, of Rusk will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 6, 2020 at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jim Goforth and Bro. Brian Givens officiating. Burial will follow at Lowes Chapel Cemetery.

Mrs. Hassell passed away February 1, 2020. She was born in Reklaw, Texas on September 18, 1926 to the late Tom and Bertha Parsons. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and loved to read. She was a great cook and known for her chocolate pie and home baked bread. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Rusk. She graduated Rusk High School in 1945.

She is preceded in death by her parents, son-in-law Kenneth Martin, granddaughter Sarah Hassell, sister Maxine Chupp, and brothers Theo, Alvis, and Thomas Lee Parsons.

She is survived by her children, Loeta Martin of Conroe, Texas, Rodney Hassell of Bedford, Texas, Marcus Hassell of Rusk, 4 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous friends and her church family.

Family will serve as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be Alec Martin, Grant Martin, Kenny Martin, and Tommy Jones.

Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. until service time Thursday.
