Donald Wayne McBroom

A funeral service for Donald Wayne McBroom, 69, of Rusk is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 29 at Alto Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Matthew McBroom officiating. Burial will follow at McBroom Family Cemetery.

Mr. McBroom went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at his residence outside of Rusk. He was born in Houston on September 13, 1950, the son of Donald Taylor McBroom and Bonnie Louise Hightower McBroom. Mr. McBroom was a devoted father and husband. He was an avid hunter and fisherman that delighted in taking his grandchildren on his outings. Mr. McBroom was shop foreman for Powell Plant Farm and later Color Spot from which he retired in 2016. Most of all, Mr. McBroom loved the Lord Jesus Christ with all his heart, mind, soul, and strength.

He is preceded in death by his father, Donald Taylor McBroom of Rusk and granddaughter Rachel Claire McBroom of Forest. He is survived by his wife Connie Jean of Rusk, mother Bonnie of Rusk, son Matthew Wayne McBroom and his wife Jackie of Forest, daughter Amy Moore and her husband Daniel of Ft. Worth, daughter Tina Propes and her husband Kris of Tatum, 10 grandchildren, brother David McBroom and his wife Lisa of Rusk and four sisters, Delcie White and her husband Kenneth of Maydelle, Deborah Barkley and her husband Dale of Kingwood, Darla Massingill and her husband Robert of Lufkin, and Deandra Miller of Martindale.

Pallbearers will be David McBroom, Daniel Moore, Kris Propes, Logan Propes, Braden Propes, Sean Moore, and Josiah Taylor McBroom. Honorary pallbearers include Ronnie Smoot, Kenneth White, Tom Galloway, Dale Barkley, Ronnie Stutts, Ricky Stutts, and Robert Massingill.

Visitation will be at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, January 28 from 6-8:00 p.m.
