RYSA teams continue post-season play

The RYSA sophomore team won their district -round game advancing them to the second round of playoffs.

The Rusk Youth Sports Association’s freshman and sophomore teams defeated their district-round opponents to advance to the second round of playoffs, keeping dreams of championship titles alive.

The sophomore team moved forward after defeating Troup 8-0. Jayden Burton made the touchdown against the Tigers. The Rusk Eagles Sophomores will play the Tyler Longhorns at 12 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, in Troup. The team is coached by Bruce Bradley, Rashod Hollis, Mark McGowan, David McGowan, Dustin Smith and Lorenza McCullough.

The freshman team also played against Troup, earning victory and a spot in the next round of playoffs. Having defeated the Troup Tigers, 38-0, the Rusk Eagles Freshmen will take on the Tyler Lions at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9.

The Rusk Eagle flag football team did not advance past the first round of playoff action.
