Appointment of Cherokee County Auditor Announced

Cherokee County's District Judges R. Chris Day, 2nd Judicial District Court and C. Michael Davis, 369th Judicial District Court, are pleased to announce the appointment of Steven Daughety to the position of Cherokee County Auditor.

Daughety has served since 2012 as Cherokee County's Internal Auditor. Prior to 2012, Daughety worked as an accountant for Southern Utilities in Tyler, Rusk ISD, and Hugh L. Goodpasture, CPA.

Daughety's two-year term as County Auditor began Tuesday, Oct. 1. Daughety replaces Amanda (Dover) Scott, who was appointed to the position in 2017.

The County Auditor has a broad scope of duties and responsibilities, including serving as a "check" on the financial operations of other county offices, as well as fulfilling financial accounting and budget responsibilities.

Daughety grew up in Jacksonville and earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1988. Daughety and wife Kathryn have two adult children Justin and Katelyn and are members of Central Baptist Church in Jacksonville.
