Myrtis L. Watson

Funeral services for Myrtis L. Watson, 101, of Rusk, will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 19, at Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home Chapel. Brother Kevin Gentry officiated. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Maydelle.

Mrs. Watson passed away Thursday, Oct. 17. She was born April 22, 1918, in Rusk, to the late Buck and Cora “Ma” Johnson. She attended Oakland school and later married Herman Watson. She also worked at Nichols. She spent her spare time gardening and tending to her flower beds. She also enjoyed cooking and shared her table on Sundays.

She is survived by her children, Ernestine “Tena” Watson of Oakland and Herman and his wife Ruth Watson of Oakland; grandchildren, Herman Michael and his wife Sue Ann Watson, Stacey Lynn Neal and Matthew Paul Watson; great-grandchildren, Joshua Hall, Tate Lee Watson, Amanda Chandler, Austin Richardson and Truit May; and great-great grandchildren, Able and Allie Watson, Connor and Sophia Richardson and Kortine and Kinsey Chandler.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren and nephews, Matthew Watson, Joshua Watson, Tate Watson, David Watson, Joe Don Watson and Bubba Ramsey.
