County burn ban lifted

Cherokee County commissioners voted to lift the county's current burn ban in special session held 9 a.m., Friday, Oct. 11. Commissioners Kelly Traylor (Pct 1), Steven Norton (Pct 2) and County Judge Chris Davis were in attendance and voted unanimously to lift the current ban, which had been in place since Sept. 11.

“We’ve got the Texas fire potential update from Texas A&M,” Davis stated Friday.. “We’re improving steadily, we’ve got more rain in the forecast, so we’re getting there.”

Davis did note that lifting the burn ban did not negate individual responsibility when burning.
