James Richard Crippen Jr.

A memorial service for James Richard Crippen Jr. “Jamie”, “Leroy”, “Daddy”, “Poppa”, age 59, of Rusk is scheduled for 3 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2019, at Harmony Missionary Baptist Church with the Revs. Brad Turlington Don Copeland officiating.

Mr. Crippen passed away Saturday, Sept. 14, 2019, at his home. He was born Sept. 13, 1960. He was the son of Wilma Sue Crippen and the late James Richard Crippen. Mr. Crippen was a lifelong resident of Rusk and retired from TDCJ with 27 years of service. He enjoyed working cows, riding horses, and watching Dr. Pol. He loved his grandbabies, naps, fishing, hunting, and a good home-cooked meal.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Joe Karl Crippen; grandparents; great-grandparents; and Melvin Levine. Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Sharon Crippen of Rusk; daughters and sons-in-law, Christy and Ricky Perkins of Bullard, Wendy King and Rusty Graham of Rusk, Ashley and Buckey Garner of Rusk, Leigh Ann Crippen of Rusk, Jamie and Jason Penney of Bullard, and Randa and Aaron Jacobsen of New Braunfels; son, Tanner Crippen of Rusk; grandchildren, John Michael Garner “Don Michael”, Shelby Garner “Shell Bee”, Matthew Perkins “Meathead”, Braden King “Bevo”, Mason Perkins “Mr. Peekins”, Lane Taylor “Mr. T”, Briley King “Baby gill”, Gage Derrington “Billy”, Brenah Sosby “Benah Doe”, Kaleigh Crippen “Bug”, Kayden Sosby “Bull/El Torro”, Karley Sosby “Tink”, Casen Crippen “Elrod”, Cruz Garner “Howdy Doody”, Paisley Perkins “Pizzle”, Decker Penney “Just Because”, Makenna Penney “Little round headed girl”.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until service time, Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2019 at the church.
