Nelda Ruth Lawson

Funeral services for Nelda Ruth Lawson, 75, of Alto, Texas were held Sunday, July 28, at 2 p.m. at the O.T. Allen & Son Chapel. Visitation was Saturday, July 27, from 6-8pm also at the funeral home. Mrs. Lawson died Friday, July 26, in Rusk, Texas. She was born in Nacogdoches, Texas, November 11, 1943, to Henry and Della Presley Armstrong. She was raised in the Douglass and Nacogdoches area and also lived in Alto for many years where she and her husband owned and operated the Texaco Filling Station. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers R. L. and Max and four sisters Zera, Frances, Agnes, and Sybil. She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law Melinda and Paul Gates of Dialville, Texas, and Teresa Gardiner of Alto, Texas, grandchildren Mickey Gates (Jessica), Susan Munsinger (Anthony), Sonya Alexander (David), and Willard Creel, 11 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Gates, Dennis Morris, Mickey Gates, David Alexander, Anthony Munsinger, and Jerry Knott, Jr.
