Bullard

Bullard’s first home game of the season took place Tuesday, Aug. 20, as the team hosted Van. The Lady Panthers defeated the Lady Vandals to stretch their winning streak to nine straight victories. Bullard won the contest with Van, 3-0, with scores of 25-20, 25-16 and 25-22.

Sara McKeethan: 19 kills, 12 digs, 2 aces; Keili Richmond: 11 kills, 9 digs and 2 aces; Libby Eitel: 18 assists; Kylie McKeethan: 12 assists, 4 digs; Claire Cannon: 7 digs; Korlieigh DuBose: 6 digs.

The Bullard junior varsity and freshmen teams also beat Van. The JV won, 2-0, with scores of 25-18 and 26-24; the freshmen won, 2-0, with scores of 25-21, 25-5.

The varsity competed in the Tyler tournament Thursday-Saturday, Aug. 22-24, garnering three wins on the first day with victories over Lufkin, 2-0 (25-20, 25-22); Joshua, 2-1 (22-25, 25-23, 25-12) and Pleasant Grove, 2-0 (25-18, 25-16).

On Friday, the Lady Panthers won two sets and lost one. They defeated Mesquite Poteet, 2-1 (22-25, 25-21, 25-19), and Texas High, 2-0. The team fell to Killeen Ellison, 1-2. On the final day of the tournament, Bullard lost to both Carthage, 1-2, and Whitehouse, 0-2.

The Lady Panthers were to host Mabank and Alba Golden Tuesday, Aug. 27. The team will participate in the Brownsboro Tournament set for Thursday and Saturday, Aug. 29 and 31.

The Lady Panthers volleyball team carry an overall 14-4 season record.

Troup

The Lady Tigers of Troup sport a 2-7 record for the Timpson volleyball tournament. Their 2-0 victories came over Shelbyville (25-16, 25-11) and Hemphill (25-20, 25-22).

Although the scores over the course of the tournament did not reflect the totality of their efforts, the players’ statistics provide a better measure of their achievements.

Alyssa Adamic: 15 aces, 23 kills, 30 digs; Caed Derrick: 2 kills, 2 assists, 2 digs; Hadley Derrick: 17 kills, 3 blocks, 49 digs; Samantha Eastman: 6 aces, 19 kills, 2 assists, six digs; Maryssa Gilliam: 4 aces, 11 kills, 14 digs; Macie Hampton: 1 assist, 13 digs; Laila Kincade: 4 kills; Josie Martin: 5 aces, 4 kills; Sarah Neel: 2 aces, 28 assists, 8 digs; Avery Thibodeaux: 11 aces, three kills, 49 digs; Tara Wells: 8 aces, 5 kills, 30 assists, 21 digs.

The Lady Tigers travelled to Grace Community on Aug. 20, where they suffered defeat, 0-3.

The Lady Tigers are scheduled to play next at Rusk Friday, Aug. 30, with the varsity playing at 4:30 p.m. and a 5:30 p.m. start for junior varsity games. The junior varsity will host a tournament Saturday, Aug. 31.
