Walter J. Hudson

A funeral service for Walter J. Hudson, age 89, of Rusk is scheduled for 11 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2019, at the Wallace-Thompson Chapel in Rusk, with the Rev. Mike Bradford and the Rev. James Palmer officiating. Burial will follow at Russell Cemetery.

Mr. Hudson passed away Friday, Aug. 16, 2019. He was born Aug. 20, 1929, in Dialville, Texas, to the late Willie and Dollie Williams Hudson. Mr. Hudson was a lifelong resident of Cherokee County, was retired from Continental Can Company and a member of Eastside Baptist Church in Rusk where he served as the church secretary.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ruby Hudson of Rusk; son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Christine Hudson of Tyler, Texas; granddaughter, Lindsay Waters and husband B.J. of Tyler; sister-in-law, Berniece Magruder of Rusk; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will include James Lloyd, Larry Lloyd, Darryl McAnally, BJ Waters, Mikey Lloyd and Dennis Morris. An honorary pallbearer will be Charles Dear.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. up until service time, Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2019, at the funeral home.
