Shirley Ann (Bogle) Ross

Shirley Ann Ross was born in Maydelle, Texas, on Sept. 20, 1938. She entered Heaven’s gates on Saturday, July 27, 2019.

She was a Christian and a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. She was a remarkable cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. For over 50 years, she was member of the Maydelle Assembly of God in Maydelle, Texas, where she served as song leader, secretary and Sunday School teacher. She was a homemaker, a beautician and worked as a cook for the Maydelle School as well as worked at Betty’s Day Care in Rusk.

She was preceded in death by her loving father, Roy Bogle; mother, Bonnie Bogle; brother, James Bogle; and sister, Betty Weaver.

She is survived by the love of her life of 63 years, Howard Ross of Maydelle; daughters, Joan Dover and husband Mike and Genny Kilgore and husband Lee, all of Maydelle; grandchildren, Ashley Kilgore of Dickinson, Chris Dover and wife Armintha of Maydelle, Joey Dover and wife Heather of Rusk, Tad Dover and wife Chelsea of Rusk.
She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Alicia Crosby and husband Shaun, Mikey Dover, Elizabeth Dover, Austin Dover, Colleen Dover, Wade Dover and Lakelynn Dover; great-great-grandchildren, Emerie, Ashlynn and Addie; her sisters-in-law, Shirley Ross of Lufkin and Ruth Scott of Longview; and brother-in-law, Vinson Roper of Maydelle. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Chris Dover, Joey Dover, Tad Dover, Mikey Dover, Austin Dover and Shaun Crosby. Honorary pallbearers are Ashley Kilgore and Vinson Roper.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. on Monday, July 29, 2019, and friends are cordially invited to visit with Shirley’s family at Autry Funeral Home, Jacksonville.

A funeral service is scheduled at 2 p.m., Tuesday, July 30, 2019, at Autry Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville. The Rev. Ernest Higginbotham and Brother Dwaine Dodd will officiate.
Mrs. Ross will be laid to rest at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Maydelle.
