Eugene R. Jones

Eugene R. Jones of Rusk passed away on Thursday, July 25, after an illness. He was born on Aug. 3, 1928, in Milwaukee, Wis., and would have been 91 years of age on his birthday.

He married Camille Titel on Aug. 16, 1952. They lived coast to coast and border to border until finally settling in Texas. Gene and Camille have five children.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edmund and Mary Jones of Milwaukee, Wis.; and brothers, Ned, Dumont and Robert, all of Wisconsin.

Gene was a renowned three-weapons champion in fencing. He was a renowned archer and bowhunter and an airline pilot. He was retired from working in the archery business for most of his life.
In addition, he was involved in developing the Head Tennis racket for professional tennis player Guillermo Vilas.

Gene is survived by his wife of 66 years, Camille Jones of Rusk; son and daughter-in law, Gordon and Susan Jones of Duncanville; daughters, Patti Jones of Arlington and Lynne Jones of Lake Dallas; daughters and sons-in-law, Caryn and Robbie Stewart of Jacksonville and Monica and John Hocke of Buena Vista, Colo. He had seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
