The Alto Economic Development is sponsoring the Alto Fair & Block Party, which will be hosted at the Alto Family Medical Clinic, 123 Busy Bee Street, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Thursday, June 13.

As expected, a variety of health screenings will be available to guests including blood pressure checks, vision tests, weight and height measurements and minor dental exams.

A blood drive will be conducted in honor of April Gentry, of Rusk, who was recently diagnosed with a rare blood disorder, and in remembrance of fallen Alto police officer Keith Radcliff.

To register for the blood drive, contact Alto Economic Development via email at altoedc@gmail.com, or call (936) 858-4412.

An appointment to give blood can be scheduled between 9:30 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. One can also register as a bone marrow donor.

Other activities include a bounce house donated by BancorpSouth, a bean bag toss with a chance to win goodie bags, sponsored by CASA of East Texas, and a do-it-yourself stress ball creation station presented by Crisis Center of Anderson and Cherokee Counties.

There will be more than 35 booths, many offering samples and other giveaways.
There will also be many chances to win goodie bags and prizes including Adrenaline Rush Zipline certificates, Wal-Mart gift cards and Chick-fil-A meal cards.
