Tomato Fest athletic events looking for a few good competitors

The 35th Tomato Fest in Jacksonville offers a variety of athletic events for the sports-minded, some of which are still to come.

The Tomato Classic Golf Tournament is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. Friday, June 7.

The cost is $50 per player or $200 per team. The tournament will be played at the Cherokee Ranch Golf Club.

The annual two-man Scramble & Shamble event will take place at the Cherokee Ranch Golf Club Saturday-Sunday, June 8-9, with tee-time at 8:30 a.m.

The entry fee is $125 per man and includes cart fee. Payouts include $900 for the first place team, $700 for second and $500 for third.

The third annual Tomato Fest softball tournament, hosted by Dirty Diamonds, will be held Saturday, June 8.

Age groups include 10U, 12U, 14U, and 16/18U. Tournament registration costs $100 per team, $40 pay at the plate. Games begin at 9 a.m. and will be played at the Jacksonville Baseball Complex, 1923 Byrd Road.
