Netting a great season: Indian soccer season ends with a 25-5 record

It was the fourth and final round of post-season play for the Jacksonville Indian soccer team Friday, April 12.

Jacksonville began post-season play by becoming bi-district champs after beating Sulphur Springs in a shootout, 4-3.

The team defeated West Mesquite in Area, 4-2. In the regional quarterfinal, the Indians edged by Lufkin, 2-1, to advance to the semifinal round.

The Indians played the Wakeland Wolverines at Tommy Standridge Stadium in Carrollton in the 5A Regional Semifinal.

The Wolverines scored a single goal in each of the two periods, winning over the Indians, 2-0.

Wakeland, defending 5A state champions, advanced to defeat Mt. Pleasant, 1-0, seizing the Region II title.

The Jacksonville Indians finished the 2019 season with a 25-5 record.
