Indians continue bid for soccer championship, Maidens’ season ends

The Jacksonville Indians remain in the hunt for a championship.

The team battled West Mesquite in the area round of Class 5A, Region II playoffs, defeating the Wranglers, 4-2. The win placed them in the Regional Quarterfinal where they were pitted against the Lufkin Panthers. The Indians carried a 1-1 record against the Panthers for the season.

Defeating the Panthers, 2-1, in the quarterfinal advances the Indians to the Regional Semifinal where they will face the Wakeland Wolverines of Frisco. The Indians carry a 25-3-1 record into the semifinal against the Wolverines who have a 19-2-5 record.

The Regional Semifinal is set for 5:30 p.m. Friday, April 12.

Maidens fall to Jackrabbits

The Jacksonville Maidens met the Forney Jackrabbits in a Class 5A, Region II Area match Tuesday, April 2.

The Maidens defeated the Jackrabbits, 2-1, propelling them to Regional Quarterfinals against the Mt. Pleasant Tigers.

The Maidens and Tigers met during the season in non-conference play during the Pine Tree Tournament where the Maidens won, 1-0.

On Friday, April 5, the Jacksonville Maidens traveled to Lobo Stadium in Longview where they played the Mt. Pleasant Tigers in the Regional Quarterfinal. The Maidens were edged out by a score of 2-1. The Maidens end the season with a 24-3-3 record overall.

Lady Panthers end season, 3-1

The Bullard Lady Panthers soccer team faced the Pleasant Grove Hawks in a Class 4A, Region II, area match Monday, April 1.

The Lady Panthers fell to the Hawks, 3-1, ending their post-season play.
