Good Friday Closings

Good Friday falls on April 19 this year and many school districts and municipalities will be closed in observance of the holiday.

School closings

The Alto, Bullard, Jacksonville and Troup ISDs will be closed Friday, April 19.

The New Summerfield, Rusk and Wells ISDs will close Friday, April 19, and Monday, April 22.

Municipality closings

The Cherokee County offices, including the sheriff’s office, will close Friday, April 19.

For emergencies, call 9-1-1.

The city offices of Alto, Bullard, Jacksonville, New Summerfield, Rusk, Troup and Wells will all close Friday, April 19.

Trash pickup services should not be disrupted as Republic Services and Ameri-Tex do not close for the Good Friday holiday.

Business closings

The Cherokeean Herald office will also close Friday, April 19, in observance of the holiday.

Bank, post office closings

The holiday should not affect banking as Good Friday is not a federal banking holiday and local banks should remain open.

Post offices should also remain open as Good Friday is not listed as a U.S. postal holiday.
