Fox Box: Powerlifters place in Whitehouse invitationals

Jacksonville

Jacksonville powerlifters participated in the Whitehouse Invitational meet Thursday, Feb. 14.

Three individuals on the boys’ team placed in the top five. Jacob Huddleston placed fourth in the 165 weight class with lifts totaling 1,040. Ben Villegas, 148 class, finished fifth with a combined weight of 945. Gerardo Ramirez, 165 class, also earned fifth. His total weight was 1,000 lbs.

Other Indian competitors include Jordan Hicks, 198 class, sixth, 1,000; Tristin Turner, 198 class, eighth, 900; Alberto Lozano, 165 class, ninth, 870; and Antonio Zalatiel, 242 class, ninth, 1,020,

A trio of Maidens posted first-place finishes in Whitehouse and two lifters came in second for a total of five members in the top two spots. The ladies took third place as a team with 32 points. Whitehouse (43) and Troup (38) rounded out the top three.

Top earners included Chloe Devillier, in the 97 weight class, with lifts totaling 560; Karleigh Stewart, 105 class, 535; and Yanelly Barrera, 181 class, 820.

The two taking second place were Brittany Westbrook, 114 class, 620; and Alicia Trujillo, 123 class, 570.

Other competitors were Mallory George, 181 class, fifth, 565; and Amarelis Gonzalez, 198 class, seventh, 580.

Rusk

The Rusk Eagles had five lifters finish in the top three of their respective classes at Whitehouse. The team placed fourth overall with 23 points, behind Henderson (42), Tyler Lee (33) and Whitehouse (31).

Byron Johnson, in the 181 class, finished second with lifts totaling 1,260, while teammate Sean Rogers, in the same class, took third with a combined weight of 1,085. Jermaine Lewis placed second in the super heavy weight division with 1,560 total and Garrett Blaylock was third in the same class with a total of 1,450.

Completing the list of top qualifiers for Rusk was Nick Acker, who finished third in the 242 class, with a combined weight of 1,270. Other Eagle competitors included Jackson Rodgers, 198 class, fourth, 1,110 ; Jaden Turner, 275 class, fourth, 1,335; and Lane Gilchrist, 242 class, eighth, 1,030.

The Lady Eagles had four lifters finish in the top three at Whitehouse.

DavidLee Martinez took first in the 198 weight class with lifts totaling 845. Harley Odell came in second in the 165 class with a combined weight of 595. Kelsy White finished second in the 181 class with a total weight of 715. Taking third in the 114 class, Zoe Fields finished with lifts totaling 545. Other competitors were Mason Blalock, 165 class, fourth, 570; and Melanie Santos, 114 class, sixth, 420.

Troup

The Troup Tigers traveled to Whitehouse where three male lifters placed among the top three. Malik Gilliam took top honors in the super heavy weight division with lifts totaling 1,580. Bryce Attaway took second with a total weight of 1,200 in the 165 class; and Kaden Mahoney finished third in the 148 class with lifts equaling 955.

Other Tigers competing include Austin Miller, 132 class, fourth, 590; Spencer Allen, 220 class, fourth, 860; John Ford, 148 class, sixth 905; Jesse Calley, 148 class, eighth, 825; and Jeremiah Ramirez, 165 class, 11th, 795.

Lady Tigers earned second place at Whitehouse with 38 points.

Four ladies took top awards in their respective classes including Rhema Pitts, 148 class, 785; Alexis Shelton, 165 class, 645; Jalyce Dennis, 265 class, 980; and Alondra Salinas, 259+, 1,030 pounds.

Maryssa Gilliam took second in the 198 class with a combined weight of 810 and Cali Mendonca finished third in the 132 class with a total weight of 515. Other competitors included Francis Zuniga, 148 class, fourth, 640; Jayme Zavala, 165 class, sixth, 535; and Reyna Ramirez, 148 class, 13th, 435.
