Troup FBC to hold annual fish fry fundraiser

by Michelle Dillon Staff Writer

On Sunday, Feb. 17 First Baptist Church-Troup will host the third annual fish fry benefitting the Troup community July Fourth fireworks festivities.

The fish will be served, beginning at 11:30 a.m., in the Family Life Center of the church located at 17941 North State Highway 135.

A total of 280 pounds of catfish filets will be readied for serving along with beans, coleslaw, French fries, hush puppies, vanilla pudding and “death by chocolate” cake.

Nolan Scruggs, who is in charge of the fish fry, stated they would not be serving cheap fish but “this is the best American-raised catfish I could buy.”

What the church is able to offer during the firework festivities is directly related to the amount of donations received during the fish fry.

Bounce houses, carnival rides and free food were all part of last year’s activities.

“If everything goes right, we’ll do bigger this year than last year,” Scruggs commented.
