Fox Box: Bullard, J’ville, Troup athletes compete in powerlifting

Bullard

Bullard competed at the Chapel Hill meet in Tyler, Thursday, Feb. 7, along with seven other teams.

Bryson Luscombe placed second in the 148 class with lifts totaling 1,115 pounds.

Lawson Barker placed second in the 198 class with a total weight of 1,220.

Cameron Bridges placed fourth in the 220 weight class with lifts totaling 1,150.

John Engle took fifth in the165 class with 1,020 pounds total weight.

Others finishing at the meet were Stone Smith, 132 class, seventh, 595 pounds; Carson Willborn, 275 class, eighth, 1,195; Angel Hernandez, 165 class, 10th, 685; William Morse, 275 class, 10th, 1,095; Bryce Craft, 148 class, 11th, 675; and Walker Stegall, 148 class, 13th, 515.

Lady Panthers

The Lady Panthers participated in the Chapel Hill meet as well, finding individual success with three lifters achieving first place.

The trio earning top awards were Charity Campbell in the 165 class with a weight total of 900 pounds; Maria Vences in the 181 class with 845 pounds; and Leighann Langston in the 259+ class with a combined weight of 1,045 pounds.

Samantha Pineda came in second in the 132 class with lifts totaling 575 pounds.

The girls powerlifting regionals are scheduled for March 2, in Fairfield.

Troup

The Troup Tigers powerlifting team participated in the Chapel Hill meet in Tyler, Thursday, Feb. 7.

Bryce Attaway secured second place in the 165 weight class with a total weight of 1,175 pounds.

Teammate Chadd Cole finished just behind Attaway in the same weight class with a combined weight of 1,070.

Other Tigers competing at the meet included Austin Miller, 132 class, eighth, 565 pounds; Kaden Mahoney, 148 class, eighth, 905; Spencer Allen, 220 class, eighth, 815; John Ford, 148 class, ninth, 865; Jeremiah Ramirez, 165 class, ninth, 795; and Jesse Calley, 148 class, tenth, 805.

Lady Tigers

The girl’s powerlifting team also participated in the Chapel Hill meet.

Rhema Pitts took first in the 148 class with lifts totaling 765 pounds.

She also earned Outstanding Lifter.

Jalyce Dennis, 259 class, also earned a first-place finish with a total weight of 960 pounds.

Second place finishers included Maryssa Gilliam, 181 class, 800; and Alondra Salinas, 259+ class, 1,015.

Lifts for Salinas included a 460-pound squat.

Other participants included Francis Zuniga, 148 class, fourth; Tatum Hunter, 132 class, fifth; and Alexis Shelton, 165 class, fifth.

The next scheduled meet for Troup is Thursday, Feb. 14, at Whitehouse.
