Offices closing for President’s Day

President’s Day, a federal holiday traditionally observed on the third Monday in February, falls on Feb. 18 this year.

In observance of this holiday, the Cherokeean Herald’s office will be closed on Friday, Feb. 15, but will be open Monday, Feb. 18.

State offices will be closed as will Cherokee County offices, including the Sheriff’s office.

For emergencies, call 911.

Area post offices and banks will be closed in observance of the federal holiday.

Cherokee County school districts that have scheduled a student holiday Monday, Feb. 18, include Bullard, Troup, New Summerfield, Rusk, Alto and Wells.

Monday, Feb. 18 remains a regular school day for students in Jacksonville ISD.

Singletary Memorial Library in Rusk will close on President’s Day, but other local libraries will not be affected by the holiday.

Area trash pick-up should not be affected as Republic Services will be providing regular trash pick-up.
