Rusk FFA, Wells ISD to hold donkey basketball match ups

As basketball teams wrap up their district schedules, two schools are gearing up to host some on-court antics for a good cause.

Rusk FFA is hosting its third annual Dairyland Donkey Basketball game Thursday, Feb. 7.

The game will be held at Rusk High School’s old gym beginning at 7 p.m. and tickets are $10 at the door.

Proceeds from the event will be used towards scholarships for students to attend Washington Leader Conference.

Wells ISD will host a series of three donkey basketball games beginning at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21.

Opponents in the competition are from Central ISD. The first game will feature members of each community.

The second game will pit seniors from each school, and teams for the final match will consist of faculty from each district.

Advance tickets, which cost $10 per person, can be purchased at Wells ISD, Central ISD or CBTx, located at 217 Rusk Avenue in Wells.

Tickets will be $15 at the door. Children two and under will be admitted free.

Free donkey rides will be available to children age 12 and younger following the first game.
