Rusk swears in 3 new officers

Rusk Police Chief Joe Williams swears in three new Rusk Police Department members during the Dec. 13 council meeting. “A lot has been said recently about the hiring practices of the department,” Williams said during the meeting. “These are the quality people we’ve been looking for.” New officers, David Enriquez of Rusk and Ronald Wherry of Wichita Falls, graduated from the police academy’s fall class of 2018 and will now begin their law enforcement careers with the Rusk Police Department. Officer Elizabeth Chacon joins the RPD from the Carthage Police Department where she’d worked for about a year. “Policing is one of our most noble professions,” Williams read to his new recruits, from an essay written by Dr. Steven Coving. “The actions of any police officer, in an instant can impact an individual for life, and even a community for generations. Given this realization, every police officer must be centered on what’s important – service, justice and fundamental fairness….”
