Wanda Mae Rawls

A graveside service for Wanda Mae Rawls, 90, of Rusk is scheduled for 2 p.m., Monday, Dec. 17, 2018, at Cook Cemetery with the Rev. Charles Nunnally officiating under the direction of Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Rusk.

Mrs. Rawls passed away Dec. 14, 2018, in Rusk. She was born Jan. 23, 1928 in Allen, Okla., to the late Henry and Virginia Couie Yeargan. Mrs. Rawls was a longtime resident of Rusk and a member of Adams Chapel United Methodist Church. She was a columnist for the Cherokeean Herald’s Welcome to Rusk articles and enjoyed painting art and was known for the best tasting pecan pies around, a recipe that is loved and shared among her many grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Roland Ray Rawls in 2006. She leaves behind four generations of family including daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Richard Holcomb of Rusk; granddaughters, Melisa Adams and husband Chris of Rusk and Cindy Rainey and husband Johnny of Rusk; great-grandchildren, Michael Andrew Houston of Whitehouse, Courtney Hart, Samantha Carroll, Christa Crump, all of Rusk, Makiea Burke of Ft. Scott, Kan., and Megan Rainey of Jacksonville; nine great great grandchildren; and bother-in-law, Merle Massey of Arkansas.

Visitation was held noon to 1 p.m., Monday, Dec. 17, 2018, at the funeral home.
