Funeral services for James Roy Lindsey, 70, of Alto will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, at the O.T. Allen & Son Funeral Home Chapel. Bros. Bobby King and Bill Wilkinson will officiate. Interment will follow at Old Palestine Cemetery in Alto. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 12, at the funeral home. Mr. Lindsey died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2018, in Lufkin. He was born Dec. 29, 1947. in Rusk, to Jewel Henry and Syble Kathrine Palmer Lindsey. He lived all his life in Alto. He attended Alto High School and then joined the U.S. Navy. He served on the U.S.S. Ranger which was an aircraft carrier capable of transporting up to 90 aircraft at a time. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Alto. Jim loved his family. He is preceded in death by his father, Jewel Henry Lindsey; and grandparents, Henry and Ruthie Lindsey and Roy and Willie Palmer.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Rebecca Lindsey; nephew/son, Cory Hogan; mother Katherine Lindsey; brother and sister-in-law, Jewel and Tammy Lindsey; niece, Michelle Franklin; nephew, Michael and wife Sherry Lindsey; special sister-in-law, Lola Whittemore; sisters and brothers-in-law, Viola and James Edwards and Mary and Marvin Schuermann; great-niece, Victoria; and great-nephews, Vidaris and Keyslyn. Pallbearers will be Michael Lindsey, Wesley Higginbotham, Steve Higginbotham, Jason Enright, Brandon Enright, Scott Enright, Justin Williams, with honorary pallbearer Jeffrey Williams.
