Melba Chauvin

Funeral services for Melba Driver Chauvin, 87, of Rusk, will be 2 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 9, 2018, at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Don Copeland officiating. Burial will follow at Russell Cemetery.

Mrs. Chauvin passed away surrounded by family Dec. 5, 2018. She was born Feb. 17, 1931, in Sumner, Texas, to the late Lloyd and Velma Briggle. She was a proud parent and spent tireless hours raising the boys. She loved to travel, and always took them camping, and went waterskiing. She was dedicated enough to put herself through nursing school while raising her family and church was an important part of her life. She was a member of Memorial Missionary Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents; first husband of 39 years, William Lloyd Driver; her second husband of 22 years, Albert Chauvin; daughter, Sherron Marie Driver; and sister, Emma Loyd Briggle Lott.

She is survived by her sons, William “Bo” Parker of Rusk, Timothy and his wife Kimberly Parker of Jacksonville; step-children, Al Chauvin, Dennis Chauvin, Stephen Chauvin, Ronald Chauvin, Amy Chauvin and Charlotte Chauvin; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, William Ray and his wife Laverne Briggle of Powderly, Texas; and brother-in-law, Bobby Lott of Tyler.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 8, 2018, at the funeral home in Rusk.

Her great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
