Troy and Loretta Phifer

Funeral services for both Mr. and Mrs. James Troy and Loretta Beasley Phifer, of Rusk, will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home chapel with Bro. James Palmer officiating. Burial will follow at Holcomb Cemetery.

Mr. Phifer passed away November 23, 2018 at home with family. He was born August 13, 1947 in Alto, Texas to the late Carl H. and Elsie Phifer. He traveled extensively and served his career in the United States Navy. He was a member of East Side Baptist Church, having been recently baptized.

Mrs. Phifer passed away November 24, 2018 at home with family. She was born December 22, 1943 in Rusk, Texas to the late Troy and Frances E. Beasley. She attended East Side Baptist Church. She loved to read and enjoyed crocheting. She also liked to garden and tended to her flowers.

They were preceded in death by his parents, her parents, daughter, Donna Sloan, his brothers, Charles Phifer, Carl Wendell Phifer, his sister, Nellie McClure, and her sister Patricia Freeland.

They are survived by their daughter and son-in-law, Lloyd and Deborah Powell of Rusk, grandson, Larry Austin Sloan of Rusk, granddaughters, Jamie and Randy McKay of Longview, Sara Banks of Rusk, Kristen Powell of Rusk, 7 great-grandchildren, niece, Frances Renee Crenshaw of Winona, nieces and nephews, his sister-in-law, Ann Mahan of Rusk, and her sister and brother-in-law, Todd and Darlene Pruett of Abilene.

Pallbearers will be Austin Sloan, Larry Phifer, David Phifer, Jimmy Phifer, Jerry Phifer, Kenneth Phifer, Hunter Austin, Braedon Anderson, Tyrell Rayson, Jody McCalister, Michael McCalister, and Zachary McCalister.
