Funeral services for William Ross Kennedy, 93, of Rusk, were 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 16, 2018 at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Charles Nunnally and Bro. R.S. Dyess officiating. Burial will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Kennedy passed away November 13, 2018. He was born September 20, 1925 in Rusk, Texas to the late Joe Little and Mary Matilda Kennedy. He served for 4 years as Cherokee County Commissioner, he was self-employed as a dairyman and logger. He spent time growing tomatoes and was known to sell produce “on the corner”. He loved to deer hunt locally and elk hunt in Colorado with his sons. He loved to fish in the Trinity river. He worked for the Texas Forest Service years ago in the Jacksonville Fire Tower.

He was predeceased by his parents, wife of 56 years, Jeanette Kimbrell Kennedy, wife of 9 years, Lola Banks Kennedy, son, Kelly Gene Kennedy, daughter-in-law, Susan Kennedy, grandchild, Nicholas David Kennedy, brothers, Wade, Josie and Roy Kennedy, sisters, Nellie Gray, and Ella Traylor.

He is survived by children, Randal Kennedy of Rusk, Terry Kennedy of Elkhart, Janet Kennedy Roach and her husband David of Maydelle, Dennis Kennedy and his wife Pam of Rusk, Joe Kennedy of Sacul, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, sisters, Mary Parsons of Lewisville, and Ethel Parsons of Rusk.

Visitation was 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, November 15, 2018 at the funeral home.

His grandchildren and great-grandchildren served as pallbearers.
