Holiday closings

Thanksgiving Day is a federal holiday which falls on Thursday, Nov. 22. The following will be closed on the noted days in observance of the holiday.

Post offices will close Thursday, Nov. 22.

All state offices will be closed Thursday-Friday, Nov. 22-23.

Cherokee County offices, including the courts and sheriff’s office, will be closed Thursday-Friday, Nov. 22-23. For emergencies, call 911.

The city offices of Jacksonville, Rusk, New Summerfield, Alto and Wells will close Thursday-Friday, Nov. 22-23.

Republic Services will not pick up trash Thursday, Nov. 22. Customers with normal Thursday pickup can expect trash pickup Friday, Nov. 23. If in doubt, anyone wishing to check the holiday schedule for Republic Services can input their address and zip code online at www.republicservices.com/schedule to confirm when trash service will be available or call the customer service line at (80) 678-7274.

Most banks follow the federal holiday schedule and will close Thursday, Nov. 22. Austin Bank, Texas National Bank and Southside Bank will all close Thursday, Nov. 22, with all Southside Bank locations closing at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21.
