The Fox Box: county wide sports updates

by Josie Fox herald@mediactr.com

It proved to be an exciting week across the county with high scoring football games, district cross country track meets, homecoming festivities and a defensive player with an interception radar.

Tigers maul Bulldogs

The Troup Tigers secured a win against the Quitman Bulldogs during their homecoming game on Friday night with a score of 55-7.

The Tigers hit the ground running in the first quarter and didn’t let up the entire game, offensively or defensively.

A combinations of completed passes, successful rushes and an interception by the Tigers allowed them to rack up 21 points in the first quarter alone.

The Tigers added another 21 points to their total in the second half, allowing just one touchdown by the Bulldogs in the second quarter.

Although the Tiger offensive line slowed down a little in the second half, adding just 13 more points to their game total, the defensive line held strong and prevented the Bulldogs from scoring any more in the game.

Players of the game were Trent Allen on offense, Calob Smith on defense and Eddy Rojo on special teams. Rojo went seven on eight extra points.

Guard falls to Chargers

Brook Hill Guard traveled to Mesquite to take on the Dallas Christian Charges Friday night, with the Chargers winning 21-7. Although the Chargers jumped out in the lead with a first quarter touchdown, neither team would find themselves in the end zone again until the fourth quarter. Guard defensive player Seth Moss aided in keeping the Chargers from scoring by completing his sixth interception of the season.
