Semi-annual clean up days to be held in Alto

October 17, 2018

The City of Alto will hold their semi-annual clean up days on Saturday Oct. 20 and Sunday Oct. 21 from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. with dumpsites located at the usual spots, the “water tower” and behind the cemetery on Rusk Street.

Citizens and residents are encouraged to take advantage of these days by removing any junk items from around houses or businesses.

Acceptable items are brush, yard waste, bulky items, household items, furniture, paper, cardboard items and trash.

Non-acceptable items include oil, oil filters, liquids, paint, and household garbage.

Electronic items and rubber tires will only be accepted if the recycling fees for those items are paid.

Appliances and any metal items will be accepted, along with lead acid batteries. These items can include, but are not limited to, lawn mower, car, truck and tractor batteries.

Residents are asked to place these items beside the dumpsters.

The dumpsites will be monitored and those taking advantage of the clean up days will need to bring a utility bill, water or gas, as proof of residency.
