Alto Economic Development Corporation is partnering with UT Health to host the Alto Health For All seminar on Thursday, Oct. 11 at 316 Smith St. in Alto.

Along with a light lunch and door prizes, the event will include live demonstrations by Alto EDC, speakers from UT Health of East Texas and Texas Home Health, and will feature the UT Health Northeast mobile mammography unit.

The new mammography coach was unveiled early this year and includes new technology that helps improve the patient experience as well as providing clearer results. The $1.1 million coach was purchased through gifts from the former East Texas Medical Center Foundation, the Ann White Fleming Fund and the Poindexter Cancer Fund.

The coach will feature Genius 3D Mammography exams, developed by Hologic, Inc. and the new SmartCurve breast stabilization system. These new features are in place to help improve patient comfort.

“Some women don’t receive a mammogram because they don’t like any pain associated with the exam, but with this new system, we believe patients will be more comfortable and hopefully come in for their annual check-up,” said Regina Davis, director of the UT Health East Texas Breast Care Center, in a press release in July.

To make a mammogram appointment at the mobile unit the day of the seminar, call (800) 648-8141, and press 3 for scheduling.
