VFW Post 3406 offers scholarship programs

The Rusk VFW Post 3406’s annual Patriot’s Pen scholarship program is open to students in grades six through eight enrolled in public, private or home school.

This is an essay contest, sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars and its Auxiliary. Top three will receive cash awards.

Last year’s scholarships totaled over $2,500. This year’s theme is “Why I Honor the American Flag.”

The Voice of Democracy Program is open to students in grades nine through 12 who are enrolled in public, private or home school study program. This is an audio essay contest. This year’s theme is “Why My Vote Matters.”
Entry forms can be obtained by contacting the local Commander at 936-371-2099. Deadline for submission is Oct. 28, 2018.
