Shelia Cox

A funeral service for Shelia Cox, age 61, of Troup is scheduled for 3:00 p.m., Monday, July 30, 2018 at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jamie Hogan officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

Ms. Cox passed away July 26, 2018. She was born September 5, 1956 in Cherokee County, TX to the late Martin Elvis “Jim” and Nina Merle Gilmore Lusk. She was a resident of Troup for the last 10 years and Cherokee County the majority of her life. She was Baptist by faith and loved spending time with her family and going with her partner to horse sales and outdoor recreation.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Shorty, Fagan and Raymond Lusk, sister, Myritta Templin. Survivors include her partner of 10 years, Vester Tennison of Troup, four children including Shannon Smith of Carthage, TX, Toni and Donnal Bolton of Jacksonville, TX, James and Christy Cox of Carthage, Stacy Carter of Jacksonville, fourteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren, two sisters, Lavitta Fawcett and husband Lewis of Colmesneil, TX, Lucille Sword and husband Gerald of Rusk, two brothers, Nat Lusk and wife Barbara of Maydelle, TX, Billy Lusk and wife Joy of Palestine, TX and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pallbearers will include Jacob Tucker, Michael Tucker, Dustin Martin, Justin Hillin, Jeremy Clark and Nathan Arnold. Visitation will be from 12 noon to 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 30, 2018 at the funeral home.
