Lois A. Jones

Funeral services for Lois A. Jones, 88, of Rusk will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday July 24, 2018 at Rusk First Baptist Church under the direction of Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jeff Carroll officiating. Burial will follow at Atoy Cemetery.

Lois Anetta Murray Jones passed away in Atoy, Texas on July 21, 2018. Lois was born in Atoy, Texas October 7, 1929 to the late Jewel Edward (J.E.) and Susie Daris Maness Murray and lived there attended Atoy School until 1941 when her family moved to Rusk, Texas. She graduated from Rusk High School in 1949. She graduated from Baylor University in 1951 with a nursing degree. She retired from Rusk State Hospital in 1990.

Lois loved her church and church family. She loved to be outside in her yard or helping in the family garden. She loved to travel her favorite place to go was the beach.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Patricia and Dennis Channel of Lilbert, Texas and her grandchildren, Tona Deaton who lived with her and cared for her. Robby Channel and Lindsay Thompson of Atoy, Texas, Ricky and Kelli Channel of Whitehouse, Texas, Jamie and Paul Havard of Wells, Texas, great-grandchildren, Cheyenne, Dakota, Sierra, Whitney, Ashley, Jace, Dylan, and Brandon. One sister, Anetta Durrett of Rusk, Texas, several nieces and nephews, two special friends Lila Shaw of Reklaw, Texas, and Ayden Boyett of Rusk, Texas.

Pallbearers will be Robby Channel, Ricky Channel, Keith Durrett, Rickey Rasberry, Brandon Durrett, Kyle Rasberry, and Austin Durrett.

Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, July 23, 2018 at the funeral home.
