Dell Knoebel

Funeral services for Dell Knoebel, 84, of Rusk were held Sunday, July 8, at the Wallace-Thompson Chapel with Rev. Bart Reddoch officiating. Burial followed at Salem Cemetery.

Ms. Knoebel passed away July 6, in a Tyler hospital. She was born March 27, 1934 in Fastril, TX to the late Cornelius Andrew and Annie Laurie Goodson Odom.
She graduated from Wells High School and had been a resident of Rusk since 1996, formerly of Freeport, where she worked as a tax accessor/collector for 37 years. She was Baptist by faith. She enjoyed traveling and loved to dance.
Ms. Knoebel was kind to those she met and would go out of her way to help others. She served as a volunteer with Hospice of East Texas for several years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Martin Straub and Charles Knoebel; sisters, Fleta Stafford, Miltie Moake, Martha Harrison and Madge Smith; brothers, Ed Odom, Zane Odom, Gene Odom and Paul Odom; niece, Martha Mann; and nephew, Billy Odom.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Alea and Floyd Simpson of Rusk; four grandchildren, Sunshine Fraim and husband Keith of Round Rock, Taylor and Keira Clay of Rusk, Stephan Clay of Rusk, and Tristan Clay of Rusk; great grandchildren, Braeden and Silas Fraim of Round Rock; sister and brother-in-law, Mattie Palmer Bates and James of Rusk; brother, Charles A. Odom of Rusk; sister-in-law, Alene Odom of Port Neches; step-sons, Richard, Bob and David Knoebel; nieces and nephews, Roy and Laura Harrison, Andy Harrison, Susan, Robert, and Linda Moake, Rosetta, Kay, Karen and Kelly Fitts, Shelby and Jared Bryant, Jeannie Washington, Amie and Clinton McKnight, Tommy Odom, Keith and Kelly Odom, Stanley Palmer, Cheryl Cameron, Thomas Lybarger, Sarah and Sabrina Odom; and numerous extended family.

Family and friends served as pallbearers.
