Michael Dewayne Pierce

Michael Dewayne Pierce, 67, of Rusk, passed away Saturday, July 7, in Tyler.

He was born in Dallas on March 15, 1951 to Fate Starling and Lovanna Pierce.

Mr. Pierce worked at Rusk State Hospital for 28 years where he retired to his home in Rusk.

Michael loved to fish, eat and preach. He was a member of River of Life Christian Center in Rusk.

He was preceded in death by his parents Fate Starling and Lovanna Pierce.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 31 years, Bettie Pierce of Rusk; sons, Steven Harper and wife, Bergetter Harper of Mesquite and Cedric Denson and wife, Qutrina Denson of Rusk; daughters, Lisa Pierce of Dallas, Robin Tatum of Jacksonville and Angela Pierce of Jacksonville; brothers, Rickey Pierce and wife, Patricia Pierce of Dallas and Donald Starling of Dallas; grandsons, Steven Brashawn Harper Sr, Davian Harper and Kamaras Delaney of Dallas, as well as, Jalon Denson and Davion Denson of Rusk; great-grandchildren, Saniya King-Harper, Alaysia Harper and Steven Brashawn Harper Jr all of Dallas.

He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

The viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 12 at the Mercy McGowan Funeral Home in Jacksonville.

Funeral service will be held Friday, July 13, at 11 a.m. at Grace Fellowship in Rusk.
