Ruth Winkler Reece

Ruth Winkler Reece of Nacogdoches passed away Friday, June 22, 2018, in Nacogdoches at the age of 78. She was born July 24, 1939, in Bellville, Illinois, to parents Adolph Winkler and Esther (Smith) Winkler.

Mrs. Reece retired from The Rusk State School in 1998 after 26 years of dedicated service. She loved to read, especially thrillers by Stephen King as she was a member of his book club. She also enjoyed watching and collecting movies. Her favorite type of shows were thriller, crime, and Investigation Discovery shows. Some of her earlier hobbies in life were crocheting and arts & crafts. She loved to cook, and her family would say that she was great at it. Ruth also collected Precious Moments Angels and had a wide variety of salt & pepper shakers.

Mrs. Reece was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of over 30 years, John Edward Reece; sister, June Eaves; and granddaughter, Rebecca Steveson.

She is survived by her son, Steve Reece and wife Liz; granddaughters, Summer Reece, Leah Couch, and Jennifer Allen; grandson, Beau Reece; and numerous great grandchildren and other relatives.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 30, 2018, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel. Interment will follow at Meador Cemetery in Cherokee County, Texas.

Friends and family are invited to a visitation prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Cason Monk-Metcalf, 5400 North Street in Nacogdoches.
