A long-time fixture on Jackson Street in Jacksonville will soon be a thing of the past.

Jacksonville’s McDonald’s is closing Sunday, June 10, for a complete demolition and rebuild of the restaurant’s building, at 402 S. Jackson St., in Jacksonville.

The current building was built in 1986. The new building is slated to be completed and the Jacksonville location set to reopen Oct. 2.

Restaurant officials said staff at the Jacksonville franchise will transfer to other local locations, including Rusk and Henderson.

Franchise owner Lynann Young, of Bullard, invites anyone in Jacksonville who needs their French fry fix to visit the Rusk location, 516 S. Dickinson St. (U.S. Highway 69 S), open from 4 a.m. to midnight every day. The Rusk restaurant has been serving its community since 2011.

McDonald’s has over 36,000 restaurants in over 100 nations, according to the corporation’s website. The most recent opening in Kazakhstan in 2016.
