Top Tomato poster contest winners

Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce recently announced the 34th annual Tomato Fest Top Tomato Poster Contest winners. Gene and Donna Brumbelow, owner of the Dairy Queen located in Jacksonville on Hwy. 69 South, sponsored this fun art event.
First, second and third grade students at each of the four Jacksonville elementary schools participated in the poster contest. The children were asked to draw and color their favorite tomato person or Tomato Fest event.
Each participating campus had a grand champion along with a first, second and third place winner from each grade.

The winners each received a Top Tomato T-shirt, designed by Autry Design; a ribbon, created by Congratulations! and a coupon for a free ice cream cone from the Dairy Queen location owned by the Brumbelows.
Winning posters will be displayed in the windows of the Norman Center during the 34th Annual Tomato Fest which will be held on Saturday, June 9 and at Dairy Queen located at 1501 South Jackson.
Presenting the awards were Gene and Donna Brumbelow; Anne Farmer; Robin Butt, Tomato Fest Chair; Britian McKinney, Chamber Chairwoman; Tom Trimble, Chair-elect and Molly Loughmiller, Poster Contest Chair.

East Side Elementary
Grand champion was awarded to Bailey Tarrant who is a third grade student at East Side. The winners from first grade were Keily Garcia, first place; Kira Stanley, second place and Stevie Rae Gresham, third place. Second grade students earning top spots were Graham Washburn, first place; Nate Torres, second place and Sara Aghilar, third place. The top posters from the third grade class belonged to Camila Gonzalez, first place; Caroline Ault, second place and Andi Beall, third place.

Joe Wright Elementary

The grand champion winner from the Joe Wright campus was awarded to third grade student Alexis Whitaker. From the first grade class Dayanara Garcia received the first place award, Valeria Rangel received second and Delunious Seeshin received thrid place. Winners from the second grade class were Yandel Servin, first place; Melany Arreguin, second place and Brisa Gred, third place. Top awards were presented to Angel Range, first place; Kayden Yate, second place and Daisy Tavera, third place from the third grade class.

Fred Douglass Elementary

Third grade student Kaylor Roberts earned the grand champion spot for Fred Douglass. Winners from the first grade class were Natalia Servin, first place; Nadia Nava, second place and Javaydon Swindell, third place. Second grade students earning first through third place awards were Dan Munoz in first place, Juan Luna in second place and Mary Grace Peacock in third place. From the third grade class the winners were Leanne Hickmon, first place; Allison Proctor, second place and Esperanza Garcia, third place.

West Side Elementary

Trinitee Dye, a third grader at West Side, was awarded the grand champion title for her poster. First grade winners included Alaysia Abercrombie in first place, Lexie Valario in second place and Nathan Helms in third place. Marlene Ganger took first place for the second grade class with Natalia Juarez coming in second and Danielle Brittan awarded third place. Top poster designs for the third grade class were awarded to Jesus Urquiza, first place; Cheri Beck, second place and My’ah Lara, third place.
