KLTV reports fatal crash in Cherokee County

CHEROKEE COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

Two people were killed in a fatal two-vehicle crash in Cherokee County on Friday.

DPS troopers responded to the wreck on FM-177, 7 miles south of the city of Jacksonville. A preliminary crash investigation indicates that a driver of a 2004 Buick LeSabre, driven by Susan Lynette Baker, 40, of Troup, was traveling west on FM-177 and entered a left curve at an unsafe speed.

Baker overcorrected, causing the vehicle to side skid into the eastbound lane where it was struck by a 2017 Ford F-250 traveling east driven by Randy Allen Roach, 39, of Troup.

Both vehicles came to rest in the south ditch.

Baker was pronounced dead at the scene by Judge Rodney Wallace, she was transported to Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville. A 15 year-old female passenger was also pronounced dead at the scene and was taken to the same funeral home.

Roach was not shown to be injured.

The crash remains under investigation and no further information is available at this time.
