Quick Hits: teams hope to bring home Texas Teenage trophies

The Rusk Eagles 8U softball team headed to the Texas Teenage Softball state tournament last week in honor of their teammate, Zoe Powers, who lost her battle against leukemia July 2. Tournament organizers and the other teams, including fellow county team the Alto Knockouts, took part in a ceremony honoring Zoe prior to the start of the tournament. The team received a framed jersey with Zoe’s number 9 and kept her jersey in the dugout each game of both the district and state tournaments.
