Recently, I stopped in Troup to visit with my kin folks, Kathleen McElroy (b. Dec. 31, 1920) and her son Joe Paul – I wanted to show them some old photos from a family scrapbook. Kathleen is seen above with her brother, John B., and parents Med and Hattie Rector Long. When asked the date of the photo, she replied, “I remember that outfit. I wasn’t married. It was 1941 or 42. I was teaching school – taught at Omen and then Salem. That was a store bought suit, with mink tails around the collar...” Kathleen looked like a million bucks in that suit and after visiting with her, I can attest she’s still got it!
