National Child Abuse Awareness was recognized in Cherokee County this spring. Elementary students participated in a poster contest. Students were from elementary schools in Jacksonville, Rusk, Alto, Jacksonville Christian School and Wells. Alto Elementary GT class' poster won the blue ribbon and a $50 gift certificate. From the GT class are in front, from left to right, Anne Cox, Alyssa Duplichain, Makynie Germany, and Emily Gonzales; in back, Laura Lopez, Jordan Hall, teacher Kay Kattner, holding the winning poster, Creager Davis, and Evan Gonzales.
