Rusk citizens get ready for annual July 4 celebration

Fire Chief Donald Lankford and Fireman Kody Killion and other members of the Rusk's volunteer fire department are ready to stake claim on the first-prize trophy at the first Gauge Lankford Firemen's Competition during the Fourth of July celebration. The event is named in member of the late five-year-old Gauge, son of the fire chief. Fire departments from around East Texas will compete in various fire department skills, as part of the celebration. The event is sponsored by the Rusk Rotary Club and will feature a grand parade, food, live entertainment on two stages, pie-baking contest, and antique car show. Activities begin at 10 a.m.
