2-vehicle rollovers close U.S. 84

k A two-vehicle wreck that occurred shortly after 11 a.m. Monday on U.S. Highway 84, two miles east of Rusk, closed the highway for more than five hours. An 18-wheeler attempted to pass a pickup in a no passing zone when it struck the pickup. The 18-wheeler then lost control and flipped, blocking the entire roadway and spilling gravel and diesel. The Ford pickup flipped on its side in a ditch. A second 18-wheeler ran off the side of the road but avoided collision with both vehicles. Lisa Bell of Jacksonville, driver of the pickup truck, was lifeflighted from the scene. Fred Lewis of Lufkin, driver of the first 18-wheeler, was transported to ETMC Jacksonville.
